    • I usually check my feed first thing in the morning.

    2 Change your status: To update your profile with a new message or information.

    • He changed his status to “on holiday!”

    3 Post a story: To upload a short photo or video that disappears after a certain time.

    • She posted a story from the concert last night.

    4 Send a friend request: To ask someone to connect with you on social media.

    • I sent her a friend request after we met at the conference.

    5 React to a post: To respond quickly using an emoji, like a thumbs-up, heart, or laugh, instead of writing a comment.

    6 Tag someone: To mention or link to another person in a post or photo.

    7 Mute someone: To stop seeing someone’s posts or stories without unfollowing them.

    10 Send a DM: To send a private message to someone (DM = direct message).

    11 Ghost someone: To suddenly stop replying to messages or communication with someone.

    • He ghosted me after three weeks of chatting online.

    12 Flag a post/comment: To report content as inappropriate or against community rules.

    • You should flag that comment – it’s really offensive.

    13 Swipe right on (someone’s profile): To show interest in someone on a dating app.

    • I swiped right on her profile – now we’re chatting!

    14 Swipe left: To show you’re not interested in someone on a dating app.

    • I swiped left – not really my type.

    15 Go live: To broadcast video in real time on social media.

    • She went live during the event to show what was happening.

    16 Go viral: To become extremely popular and spread quickly on the internet.

    • That cat video went viral – millions of views in one day!
