    You use a 1 spoon to eat foods like soup, puree, or yoghurt. You use a 2 teaspoon to add sugar to your tea or coffee.

    • I ate my soup with a spoon.
    • I mixed sugar in my tea with a teaspoon.

    You use a 3 knife to cut food, and you use a 4 fork to take food from your plate to your mouth.

    • I need a knife to cut my meat.
    • John ate his salad with a fork.

    We call forks, knives, and spoons 5 cutlery. You usually find cutlery on the table when you go to a restaurant.

    • I asked the waiter for some cutlery.

    You drink cold drinks from a 6 glass, and you drink hot drinks from a 7 mug.

    • I have a mug of coffee for breakfast each morning.

    You can also drink hot drinks from a 8 cup. A cup is smaller than a mug, and you use a 9 saucer, which is a little plate, to put your cup and teaspoon on.

    You use a 10 plate to put solid food on, and you use a 11 bowl to serve cereal, soup, or puree in.

    • There was a sandwich on the plate.
    • I had a bowl of soup for lunch.

    12 You use a napkin to protect your clothes while you eat.

    • I put my napkin on my knee, then I started to eat.

    13 You use a tray to carry plates and other things to the table.

    • I carried the plates to the table on a tray.

    You buy water, wine, and other drinks in a 14 bottle, a tall container that you can open or close.

    • I bought a bottle of wine from the shop.

    You use a 15 teapot to serve tea in, and you use a 16 jug (UK) or pitcher (US) to put water, milk, juice, and other liquids in.

    • I made the tea in an old teapot.
    • I served the tea with a jug of milk.
